| 12 of 13 people found the following review helpful  dm4-2191, By This review is from: HP Pavilion dm4-2191us 14" Laptop i5-2430M (Personal Computers) bought on black friday, light weight at 4.4 lbs and the computer runs quick and extra long battery life, the only thing keeping it from 5 stars is the touchpad,i have a little problem with scrolling sometimes, maybe i'm not using it right, but its harder to get used to than the dell 15r i bought and returned before this, it was smoooooth, but it was too big and heavy for me and wasn't as fast, overall i'm real happy with this computer and i would recommend it, i'd give it 4.7 stars out of 5 3 of 3 people found the following review helpful  Quality issues, This review is from: HP Pavilion dm4-2191us 14" Laptop i5-2430M (Personal Computers) When it is working, it's a nice notebook. But in the 4 months that we have had it, it has broken twice, both times, where is simply refuses to start. The first time, after an hour of trying various things with HP tech support, they sent a return box, and then we got the same machine back 2 weeks later, now working. A month later, it failed again, refused to start (black screen again). So there are some quality issues, I think. HP tech support is decent. I'd just rather not have to talk to them! I picked this one because it has, on paper, about double the power and capacity of the old. However, this computer is getting overwhelmed even more easily than the old one did. I am 100% incapable of playing music on this system; when I try, I get scratches, hangups, and feedback in the music, system warnings about very high CPU usage, and all my other programs stall out while the music tries (unsuccessfully) to play. I've had this issue now with both the Zune software as well as Windows Media Center. I can't be productive on my system if I can't listen to music while I work. This system advertises high usefulness as an *entertainment* computer, but if I can't even play simple MP3 files, I'd hate to see what it would be like trying to download and play something like a movie! |
