 Good idea but..., Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Mantis Knives Cyclops (Sports) the idea behind this knife is INCREDIBLE but i could not get the blade to lock out from simply pulling down on it(it still lacked about a 1/4inch or more to lock out). after you pull down on the circle you would want to either manually lock it out or since this piece is a protection item make sure that you strike your target in the direction the blade is to lock out or you could end up loosing a finger... yes the knife is THAT sharp. With that being said for most people that get in an altercation that a knife would have to be used to protect your or anothers well being your adrenaline would be pumping too hard to take the time to think about which way the blade locks out, so there is a 50/50 shot at success. Due to the design, I have yet to encounter anybody who would think it's a knife (due to the fact that you could see right through the center...it IS an "O" after all). The only give away is upon closer inspection from the side, or if you pull it for use. The blade is curved (as seen), and has "fan" like design of "3 blades".My ONLY complaint is that, unlike what videos on youtube and elsewhere states, the only way i got mine to hook back up onto the necklace is to connect it from the "open" position. the internal bar is angled off in a way that trying to link the knife and the necklace together from the closed position is not possible. I'm sure there's a way to fix it, but I'd rather leave it as is. If I open the blade with my right hand, it would be facing towards me. I assume the purpose therefore is for inward slashes or slashing arteries or the windpipe while holding the head/limb in place. I COULD be wrong and it... Read more 1 of 2 people found the following review helpful  Nothing else compares, This review is from: Mantis Knives Cyclops (Sports) I purchased three of these for gift items. 2 for my nephews and 1 for my niece (the pink one!) who are avid kayakers. What a fantastic item. It is very stylish, and practical. The opening of the knife can be a bit tricky at first but once you get the hang of it with some practice it opens and locks into place great. The price is great and for someone who might not be able to easily access a knife in a pocket, this provides a great alternative. Would highly recommend it and with a lifetime warranty how can you go wrong? |
